Bangladeshism:Influenced by Modernization and Dependency Theory
This/The land is 147,570 km² and surrounded by India from all three sides. After the decline of the Mughal Empire in the 1700s. Bengal became a semi-independent state under the Nawabs of Bengal , after which it was conquered by the British East India Company at the Battle of Plassey in 1757, directly contributing to the Industrial Revolution in Britain and to deindustrialization in Bengal. The Bengali city of Calcutta served as the capital city of British India up until the early 20th century. Later after the British rule the land was named East Pakistan and they gained independence in 1971 and was named Bangladesh. Bangladesh is considered to be a Third World country and the etymology of the term ‘third world’ is quite interesting.
